2025.01.18 22:50 savvykaye Picked quit instead of laid off and now disqualified
I foolishly applied for unemployment during the first week of January before finding this subreddit and researching. I worked as a seasonal employee for eights months and my last day was set for Oct 31st. I had to wait to apply for unemployment in January as I had moved to WA in Nov 2023 and would not have enough hours worked in my benefit year.
During the application, I was confused and assumed I had technically quit rather than laid off (I think laid off applies to my situation, please let me know if I’m wrong). So I picked quit and now I have the disqualification of not having a good cause to quit.
Now my question is, if I appeal, can I report the mistake of picking quit instead of laid off and qualify? I have my appointment letter from my job that shows that I was hired March 2nd and that my last day would be Oct 31. Or can I not appeal and just deal with consequences of my actions?

Like most of us, videography started out as a hobby, I couldn't wait for work to finish or the weekend to come so I could take action on my next creative idea. But now I do this full time and during quiet periods or days off I often find the last thing I want to do is any kind of video production.
However, during those occasions I do pick up a camera (such as a holiday or a day trip), more often than not I find some element is below the standard I uphold for my work. Whether that be having no plan, not enough shots (or variety), lazy editing, no clear consistent style (be that story, shot, colour etc. etc.) from one video to the next. I feel like it almost takes more energy to make these for myself than it does to make videos for clients.
I know this is a classic case of making a hobby your work killing the passion for the hobby. But I wonder what experience you lot have with this. Do you create personal videos? Are those videos en par with your professional work standards? What motivates you? How do you strike that balance of work and hobby?
(I'm specifically looking for viewpoints from full time videographers or those who have been in the past. However I'm open to others opinions, be that from personal experiences with other hobbies or outside observation)

Just shot my OCL Polo-30 (first ever suppressor) on my AR-15 I built. Everything ran great, not a ton of powder shot out, and it did smoke but I shoot 60 rounds rather quick.
The suppressor did get hot enough to see heat waves come off of it. I wasn’t worried but I was curious what temps I should expect and what are signs of it being oveunder gassed? Plan on swapping it to my other AR soon to hunt some coyotes with my night scope so I’d like to be a little more educated.
